Why. The mission of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is to sustain warfighter readiness and lethality by delivering proactive global logistics in peace and war. The agency considers its primary focus to be the military men and women it serves, and one way to serve them better is through innovation. One of the objectives of the DLA Director Strategic Plan 2018-2026 was innovation that will achieve best-value logistics solutions in order to be more agile, adaptable, and responsive to customer (warfighter) requirements.

What. Technical Assent supported DLA’s innovation objectives by applying service-design and human-centered design methodologies in the areas of Strategic Distribution and Disposition, Medical Logistics Network, and Supply Chain Management Research and Development. Our project engineers and customer-experience consultants analyzed a number of emergent technologies from the end user’s perspective and conducted business process reengineering across a wide range of activities. We also researched the breadth and depth of issues related to technology transfer and commercialization, and they supported acquisition lifecycle management in accordance with the Defense Acquisition Guidelines. In all, we aided DLA’s innovation efforts in 14 concurrent projects and programs.
