Improving Decision-making and Oversight for the Next Generation Air Traffic Control

Why:  The FAA is leading the largest transformation of the air traffic system since World War II. With nearly 30,0000 daily flights, the FAA is optimizing air traffic to ensure that it continues to operate safely but also as efficiently as possible. The ability to reduce flight times not only serves as a benefit for travelers but it enabled greater air safety while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

What:  Supporting a highly visible national initiative, our team helped develop a governance structure to ensure decisions were sufficiently informed by key stakeholders and included the right parties.  In this complex, highly technical environment our team depicted sophisticated concepts into straightforward visuals that bridged gaps between engineers, safety advocates, and FAA business executives, ultimately resulting in better ability for all parties to understand impacts to the national airspace system and evaluate FAA’s progress toward its transformation objectives.
